# Search

> Find messages, canvases, people, chats, channels, agents, and workspaces.

Use global search when you remember what was discussed but not where it lives.

Press **Command + K** on Mac or **Ctrl + K** on Windows and Linux. You can also select **Search** in the left rail.

## What you can find

Search can show items you have access to, including:

* messages and thread replies;
* canvases;
* AI chats and channels;
* people and agents;
* workspaces;
* recent searches and quick actions.

Open a result to go to the matching conversation or document. Message and canvas results take you to the relevant
content, not only the top of the page.

## Narrow a message search

Use filters when a common word returns too many results:

* `in:#channel-name` searches in one channel.
* `from:@person` searches messages from one person.

You can combine a filter with normal words. For example:

```text theme={null}
launch date in:#product-launch from:@Mina
```

Type at least two characters to start a content search.

## Search tips

* Search for a distinctive phrase, customer name, decision, or file topic.
* Try the term the team used at the time, not only the term you use now.
* Give important chats, channels, and canvases clear names.
* Put final decisions in messages or canvases with enough words to find later.
* If a result is missing, check that you are in the right organization and still have access to its workspace.

<Note>
  Search respects access. It does not show private workspaces or direct messages that you cannot open. Workspace owners
  can also control whether workspace content is available to search.
